April 2018

Easter Monday 2nd April 2018

As forecast the rain was relentless, I spent an hour down the garage tidying the mess that I'd created over the last month or so. Re-arranged a few things. Need to move some bits out for space, but hoping this afternoon the rain will calm.

Purchased two Sena headset clamps. I have two Sena SM10 pods, so this'll hopefully see the units refreshed.

I have spent some time researching the latest offerings from Givi. I cannot make my mind up if I should go conventional or square. Awaiting feedback.

Tuesday 3rd April 2018

Completed the paperwork, and photos of the bike to submit to the BSAOC, confused about the choke cable as received. I have ordered another one.

Wednesday 4th April 2018

Have ordered a replacement Choke cable, reverted to type and ordered a Bantam B175 cable.

Friday 6th April 2018

Well, what a night, went out on the T140. Bugger to start, had to pop fuel down the plug hole. Met Andy Stimpson at the Admiral Wells pub. Needs carbs cleaning out, and light sorting as the dip beam is blown.

Saturday 7th April 2018

Went to Leeds, and on the way back won an auction for sena headset x2 wires and helmet mounts. I have also ordered a new Givi top box. Looking at the rack Givi E159 for the waterproofs.

Sunday 8th April 2018

BSA Bantam Meet - Upwood - RAIN !!!! - Well half a dozen turned up, and we spent time talking bikes and plans for the coming spring. Jerry, and Peter Rich on his wonderful BSA.  A good morning chewing pig, and talking bikes warmed by an open fire.

Friday 13th April 2018

Dropped my wheel off to SteveLin for new tyre fitting.

Sunday 15th April 2018

Carbs refitted after Andy Stimpson cleaned them, terrible - didn't know what I can do. Later this afternoon I called Andy, and I have to say the moment was europhic. I had the choke the wrong way !!! - Even went out in the rain to prove andy correct. Loose pos terminal on the Motobat.

Wednesday 18th April 2018

finished early as I collected the front tyre on the rim from Stevelin. £20 - lovely chap.

Rode to Simons on the T140, then onto the Admiral Wells. Lovely evening. Photos below.

Thursday 19th April 2018

Run out on the T140 to the Pink Pub, lovely. Spent the evening gettting the paperwork complete to send to the DVLA. Fitted the front new tyre to the ST1050 in prep for the MoT

Friday 20th April 2018

MoT on the sprint, as always have. I placed the battery on, and she started on the push of the button. The weather was lovely, I took the opportunity to try the new top box. Looks good. Can't wait to see if the weather is going to allow me to ride to Mumsby, via the sports bike shop.  Drain burst in the close. Will have to rescue the bikes on Sunday after the show.

Saturday 21st April 2018

Rode on the Sprint to Mumby in Lincolnshire, then onto Guy Martins Pub. The man himself was there and we exchanged a brief hello. Sprint performed flawlessly. A throughly enjoyable day.

Sunday 22nd April 2018

Had a lift to Stafford bike show, TBH it has to the be the last time I go. Simply nice to view some bits. But the prices, and the time to travel was not nice. A long day. Bantams I think had dropped in price - bought some classic red top clubs.

Monday 23rd April 2018

Well started to strip the Kawasaki Forks, good job I did as some of the simplest tasks proved to be a right ball ache. Getting the allen headed button bolts off to remove the mudgaurd was not easy. Then stripping the base allen key.

However i achieved this on one leg, the other I will do this evening. Photos Below. Patten parts were approx. £18 and the Kawasaki OEM

were £44. Lets hope I've made the right call.

Tuesday 24th April 2018

Forks - night two.

Wednesday 25th April 2018

Well after last nights cockup where I go the right hand fork bush stuck, I managed to free it and complete the rebuild of one fork.

Thursday 26th April 2018

A lucky break in the weather meant I could ride to the Abbotts Elm pub, and meet Brian and a few mods.

Saturday 28th April 2018

Well took a lot longer than I thought, and on closer look I might have damaged the fork sanction. But the Kawasaki is now back together. We will have to see if the sanctions are okay. Need to tidy the Garage, as it's a real mess. Due to the weather, it has been a dumping ground.
