1/32" or 8.75mm ,the plugs at 55deg so 10.5mm on the gauge

Spent a couple of hours this morning adjusting the headlamp holder, cutting off the legs and then re-fitting the forks. On to the Nacelle, and feeding the wiring on the loom. wheeled the bike into the hall onto lots of cloth so I can continue to work in a warm place. Getting there. Still very hopeful that I can get the engine running this weekend.

Well after an amazing fry up I started to work towards getting the C15 Engine started before sunset today.
Unfortundately I failed, but have made progress. I am 80% confident that I can attempt to start the engine next weekend.
I came across several "challenges" - rotten oil feed pipes, and a carb that would not play game with its top hat. Robbed one from the D7 BSa and completed the carb rebuild, then fed new pipe on - in line filter. Then onto the removal of the woodruff key - took a lot of patience. Avoided the temptation to hit it for fear of bending the crank stub. Then onto a pattern part twist grip. Had to trip some excess casting off for it to work smoothly. Then onto the sump, and replacing the filter, the bowl and the cap. So, several hours, and I have made headway but not as much as I had hoped. No good rushing then the thing letting me down. So next weekend we are nearly ready to go for start, and the following a frame based MoT with Barry. Lots of little parts need ordering. Ebay here I come.

Sat researching the bike, and I am afraid that I am going to have to strip the clutch, and investigate why the lever is so tough. I have studied the diagrams and do not beleive it can be that hard. Only time will tell.

Researching the clutch and the tightness, I am going to pop off the offside cover and start following the clutch rod, through the engine. Everything I read leaves me to believe i have the wrong springs in the clutch. Making links to purchase some - check the cups, and the seating of the springs.

Came home focused on getting the Clutch sorted. Stripped off the exhaust, foot rest and managed to get into the clutch arm, anyways as ever one job done. Two more discovered. Cotter pin on the kickstart, then the nut and bolt on the gear lever is mullered.

Well its not really bad news, but the bike won't get past a couple of puffs, starts very easily, not even a swift kick. But dies after four seconds when running. Back fires a lot. So - I am thinking perhaps its the timing. I have checked float, jets, needle, carb seating - air tight. So need to re-check timing. I have had to order a puller as I cannot get the ruddy new rotor off - and re-timed. Ho hum. Have changed the oversized oil clamps. Bike is now dry. No more drips. As the light faded I started on the wiring, rear light and brake light. Anyways, as they say tomorrow is another day. I'm trying to stay positive as it's firing and likely to be something really simple. I am on point to buy new carb from Amal, should I not sort this out. Lets see what Saturday brings. Well, after yesterday and re-thinking what the term TDC was - I eagerly awaited delivery of the puller - hey presto, within an hour of the tool arriving it ran. I was over the moon - here's my post from social media today. "Well after two days of head scratching it runs. Carb is very tired, and will change it perhaps for later concentric. Will speak to Amal on Monday - but here goes - so many thanks to everyone who has messaged, offered help, and even those who called. All the best - Another 250 BSA is one step closer to being returned to the road"

Monthly meet at Upwood. Dry, but ended up going in a car, as I had spent too much time taking parts from the Bantam to fit to the C15. So went in a car !!! Here's the resultant video. I think I need to re-think the format of the videos I produce at Upwood. Becoming very samey.

Day off work to sort the wiring out on the C15, might even start the t140. Aiming to get an MoT on the BSA within the next two weeks. Will I do it ? right off to the Garage, the day was so mild plenty achieved, as the photos below show.

Well took the footpegs to the blacksmith and had them straightend - £10 - Bargain !!!!! new carb came, traditional rear light fitted. Getting close to being ready for an MoT - Photos below.

Well I had every intention of completing several small jobs, however I awoke to light snow, 22mph winds and i was so cold I came in - did some photography of the nearside riders footpeg. Then onto completing the wiring. I am going to buy a gas heater for the garage, and fit a screen to the garage entrance. I have light but no heat.

Well I am really chuffed, the UNC nut fitted the shaft perfectly. I can now fit the footpegs and continue the bike build. Just a few tidying jobs to complete. I have to say I am looking forward to completing this bike. Fingers crossed. I will have this for bike night this year.

Spent the morning doing the C15, but first did the locks on the Kawasaki Er5, changing them proved to be easy enough. It was a real pleasure working with metric spanners and sockets. Anyways it was sorted in a few hours. I then swapped the high bars from the C15, and started to look at the wiring. Had an unfortunate moment though as I connected something wrongly and got smoke out of the stator. Fortunately a quick disconnection and then an engine start proved that I had not damaged anything.

A full morning and afternoon down the garage. Saw me break the back of the rebuild. However I do need to work the optimal timing out, as when I checked it with the strobe it was well out. But the bike starts easy enough. Had a good day, Trev called and confirmed the bike frame was 1960. I was hoping for older. Anyways a good day.

Popped down the garage to take measurements for the front seat pan mount, I will need to call into Toolstation, and buy a grinder spanner to change the disk in the grinder. But I will try and weld the seat pan - without the thing catching fire.

I have ordered a choke lever, and have enough bits in the garage to make a manual choke. Despite ordering NoS BSA Brake cable I have to report that it's too long. Grrrr. One of those moments when you realise ordering parts for old bikes sometimes its pot luck. GRRRR.
